Description
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common bacterial infection in women, with about 50% of women experiencing at least 1 UTI in their lifetime. E. coli which is also known as UPEC (Uro Pathogenic Escherichia coli) are responsible for about 80% of UTIs. In addition, there has been a worldwide trend in the occurrences of fungal UTIs. C. albicans are reported as the most common cause of fungal UTIs (candiduria) and its inadequate treatment of candiduria may result in recurrent or persistent urinary tract infections. HK Cranberry contains an extract of Cranberry, D-Mannose and Hibiscus sabdariffa that can help manage urinary tract infection. A-Type proanthocyanidin of Cranberry extracts and D-Mannose inhibit the adhesion of uropathogens particularly E. coli to the bladder wall and urothelium (lower part of the urinary tract) respectively. In addition, proanthocyanidin of H. sabdariffa and Cranberry extracts inhibit the growth of C. albicans that are responsible for recurrent urinary tract infections.
